Super Bowl crackdown on human trafficking yields 47 arrests and rescues of 22 victims

Traffickers, suspected accomplices, and johns were among the 47 people arrested around the Super Bowl. “This united effort has not only led to arrests and recoveries, but has also provided us with information and leads that help us continue to stop human trafficking in our community.” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Randle said. 

A Criminal Underworld of Child Abuse 

The New York Times released a two-part podcast outlining the issue of child exploitation online. 

26-year-old charged with sex trafficking young girl online for months

A 26-year-old in Michigan used social media apps to sell a 15-year-old girl for sex. “There were thousands of images that that individual had that were images of underage females — specifically the victim.” said Sheriff Chris Swanson.
